The Football League 2nd Division - Group B in Albania was founded in 2008, as the second tier of Albanian football. The league consists of 12 teams, all of which are based in Albania.
The first games of the league were played in 2009, with the first champions being KS Apolonia Fier. Since then, the league has gone through several changes, with the most recent being the introduction of a promotion and relegation system in 2015.
The league is governed by the Albanian Football Association (AFA), which is responsible for the organization and regulation of all football competitions in Albania. The AFA is also responsible for the promotion and relegation of teams between the different divisions of the league.
The current structure of the Football League 2nd Division - Group B in Albania consists of 12 teams, all of which play each other twice during the season. At the end of the season, the top two teams are promoted to the Albanian Superliga, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the Albanian First Division.
The 2022 season of the Albanian 2nd Division - Group B kicked off on October 2nd, 2022 and will finish on April 30th, 2023. Twelve teams are competing for the championship and so far 132 out of the total of 48 matches have been played. The top three teams in the standings are currently separated by only two points, with Pogradeci leading the way with 19 points, followed by AF Elbasani and AF Elbasani with 17 points each. However, there are still 84 matches left to be played, so the competition is far from over. The 2nd Division - Group B Albania is part of the Kategoria e Pare, the first Albanian football league. The teams are placed in 18 tables, with a promotion and relegation system for the best and worst-performing teams. The best teams are promoted to the Kategoria Superiore, while the last two teams are relegated to the Kategoria e Dytë. In the 22/23 season, KF Oriku and KF Flamurtari were promoted to the Kategoria e Pare, while Dinamo Tirana and KF Skënderbeu were relegated to the Kategoria e Pare. Each team plays a total of 201 games in one season, and the winner is the team that has the most points at the end of the season.
The Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit is the official organization in charge of the 2nd Division - Group B Albania football league. The league’s official TV partners are SuperSport Albania and Tring Sport.
