The Capital Territory NPL was founded in 2000 as the premier football league in the Australian Capital Territory. The league was established to provide a high-level competition for the region’s best teams, and to promote the game of football in the region.
The first season of the Capital Territory NPL featured eight teams from the ACT and surrounding areas. The inaugural season saw Belconnen United crowned as the first ever champions of the league.
Since then, the Capital Territory NPL has grown to become one of the most competitive and respected leagues in Australia. The league now consists of 12 teams, with the top two teams each season competing in the FFA Cup.
The Capital Territory NPL is governed by Football Federation Australia, with the league’s corporate structure including a board of directors, a full-time staff and a network of volunteers. The league is dedicated to the development of football in the region, and works closely with local clubs and associations to ensure the highest standards of competition.
The Capital Territory NPL Australia season 2022 is just about to come to an end. The season kicked off on 2023-04-01 and will finish on 2023-09-03. Eight teams have been competing for the championship this season, and all 88 matches have already been played. As of now, the top three teams are separated by only nine points. The current leader of the standings is Canberra FC, with 44 points. Gungahlin United and Gungahlin United are in second and third place, respectively, with 40 and 35 points. There are still 0 matches left to be played before the season comes to a close.
