The Northern NSW NPL (National Premier League) is a football league in Australia that was established in 2008. It was founded as a result of the merger between the Northern NSW State League and the Northern NSW Super League. The merger was proposed by Football Federation Australia (FFA) in order to create a unified and more competitive football league in the Northern NSW region.
The first season of the Northern NSW NPL began in 2009. It featured 13 teams, with the Newcastle Jets Youth, Broadmeadow Magic, Lambton Jaffas, Edgeworth Eagles, Weston Workers Bears, Maitland Magpies, South Cardiff Gunners, Adamstown Rosebud, Lake Macquarie City, Valentine Phoenix, Hamilton Olympic, Charlestown City Blues and the Newcastle Suns.
The league is currently managed by Football NSW, with the Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) as the governing body. The NNSWF is responsible for the administration and promotion of the league, as well as the development of football in the region. The NNSWF also organizes the annual NNSW NPL Grand Final, which is the biggest event in the league’s calendar.
The Northern NSW NPL is a semi-professional league, with teams competing for the NNSW NPL Championship. The league is divided into two divisions, the NNSW NPL Premier League and the NNSW NPL Division One. The NNSW NPL Premier League is the top tier of the league, while the NNSW NPL Division One is the second tier. The top teams from each division compete in the NNSW NPL Grand Final for the championship title.
