The Frauenliga was founded in 1970 as the first professional women’s football league in Austria. It was created to provide a competitive platform for female players to showcase their talent and to provide a positive environment for the growth of the sport. The 2022 Frauenliga Austria season kicked off on the 28th of August 2022 and will conclude on the 28th of May 2023. 10 teams are competing for the championship and 90 out of 45 matches have already been played. The top three teams in the standings are currently separated by 8 points, with St. Pölten W in the lead with 27 points, followed by Sturm Graz W with 22 points and Sturm Graz W with 19 points. With 45 matches still to be played, the championship is still wide open.The Frauenliga Austria is the top-tier women’s football league in Austria.
