The Regionalliga Salzburg is a football league in Austria that was founded in 2020. It is the fourth tier of the Austrian football league system and is composed of clubs from the state of Salzburg. The league is administered by the Salzburger Fussball-Verband (SFV).
The league was founded in 2020 as a result of the reorganization of the Austrian football league system. This reorganization saw the creation of the 3. Liga, the fourth tier of the Austrian football league system. The Regionalliga Salzburg was created as part of this reorganization to provide a higher level of competition for clubs from the state of Salzburg.
The first season of the Regionalliga Salzburg began in 2020 and featured 12 teams competing in a double round-robin format. The top four teams at the end of the season were promoted to the 3. Liga, while the bottom four teams were relegated to the Salzburger Landesliga, the fifth tier of the Austrian football league system.
The Regionalliga Salzburg is governed by the SFV, which is responsible for the organization and administration of the league. The SFV is composed of representatives from the clubs competing in the league, as well as representatives from the Salzburg Football Association.
The 2022 Regionalliga - Salzburg Austria season kicked off on July 22, 2022 and will finish on April 1, 2023. 12 teams are competing for the championship, with 132 out of 108 matches already played. As of now, the top three teams are separated by just 6 points. Bischofshofen is in the lead with 43 points, followed by Austria Salzburg with 40 points and Austria Salzburg with 37 points. However, with 24 matches still to be played, the standings can change drastically. The Regionalliga - Salzburg Austria season is heating up and it looks like it will be an exciting finish. With the top three teams so close together, anything can happen in the remaining 24 matches.
