The Primera División Chile was first established in 1933, with Magallanes being the first league winner. The teams are divided into three tables, with a promotion and relegation system for the best and worst-performing teams. The last two teams are relegated to the Primera B. Each team plays a total of 287 games in one season, and the team with the most points at the end of the season is declared the winner.
The top six teams qualify for the Copa Libertadores main tournament or preliminary qualifications. An additional three teams qualify for the Copa Libertadores Qualification tournament or preliminary qualifications. Twelve more teams qualify for the Copa Sudamericana tournament or preliminary qualifications.
The Bolivian Primera División is home to some of the largest stadiums in the country, with Bolívar’s Estadio Hernando Siles boasting a total capacity of 42,000. As the largest stadium in the league, Bolívar, also known as The Strongest, is able to accommodate the largest crowds of any team in the Primera División.
The Primera División Chile is the top-tier football league in Chile, and is managed by the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional. The league’s largest television partners are CDF, La Red, and Chilevisión, providing viewers with access to the best football action in the country.
