The Croatian Football League Cup, or HNL Kup, is the national cup competition of Croatia. It was founded in 1992, shortly after the country declared independence from Yugoslavia. The first tournament was held in 1993 and was won by Hajduk Split. Since then, the competition has grown in popularity and is now one of the most prestigious tournaments in the country.
The tournament is open to all teams in the Croatian First Football League and the Croatian Second Football League. It is organized by the Croatian Football Federation and the winner qualifies for the UEFA Europa League. The tournament is held annually, usually in the spring, with the final match typically taking place in May.
The tournament is divided into two stages. In the first stage, teams from the Croatian First Football League are divided into two groups. Each team plays two matches against teams from the same group, with the winner of each group advancing to the semi-finals. The semi-finals and final are played in a single-elimination format.
The tournament has been won by some of the country’s most successful teams, including Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split, Rijeka and Osijek. The current champions are Dinamo Zagreb, who won their fourth title in 2020.
The Croatian Cup is a football competition that has been held annually since 1992. The tournament follows a knockout system format, with teams competing over five rounds. The winners of each game advance to the next stage until a champion is crowned. The first edition of the Cup was won by NK Inter Zaprešić.
The number of games played in the Cup Croatia varies each year, depending on the number of teams that enter the competition. Generally, the tournament consists of around 50-60 games in total. The standings of the teams are determined by the number of points they have accumulated throughout the tournament.
The Football League Cup Croatia is managed by the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) and its largest TV partner is Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT). HNS is responsible for the qualifying tournament and managing sponsorship rights. HRT broadcasts the Super Cup, the final match of the tournament, to viewers across Croatia.
