The Denmark Series - Group 2 was founded in 2002 as the second tier of the Danish football league system. The league is made up of 12 teams, with the top two teams each season being promoted to the Danish 1st Division. The bottom two teams are relegated to the Denmark Series - Group 3.
The first season of the Denmark Series - Group 2 saw 12 teams competing, with FC Vestsjælland winning the inaugural season. Since then, many teams have come and gone, with the league now being made up of the following teams: FC Sydvest 05, FC Roskilde, FC Helsingør, FC Fredericia, BK Marienlyst, Brabrand IF, FC Viborg, Kolding IF, FC Hjørring, Skive IK, FC Thisted, and FC Midtjylland.
The league is managed by the Danish Football Association, who oversee all aspects of the league, including the scheduling of matches, the distribution of prize money, and the disciplinary procedures.
