Origins and Foundation of Liga MX Femenil in Mexico
Liga MX Femenil is the highest division of women’s football in Mexico. It was founded in 2017 as a result of the merger between the Liga MX Femenil and the Liga de Ascenso Femenil. The first season of the Liga MX Femenil was played in 2017-18 and featured 12 teams.
