The First League of Montenegro is the top division of football in Montenegro. It was founded in 2006 as the Montenegrin First League, and is currently comprised of 16 teams. The league is governed by the Football Association of Montenegro, and the season runs from August to May.
The first game of the First League of Montenegro was played on August 12, 2006 between FK Zeta and FK Mogren. FK Zeta won the game 1-0, with the first goal of the league being scored by Milorad Pekovic in the 15th minute.
The league is divided into two parts, the Championship Round and the Relegation Round.
