The National League - Southern (NLS) is a football league in New-Zealand, founded in 2010. It is the second tier of the New-Zealand football league system, below the National League. The NLS is run by the New-Zealand Football Association (NZFA) and is divided into two divisions, the North and the South.
The NLS was created in 2010, when the NZFA decided to restructure the football league system in New-Zealand. The first season of the NLS was played in 2011, with 10 teams competing in the North division and 8 teams in the South division. The first games were played in April 2011, with the first champions being Waitakere United, who won the North division.
The NLS is managed by the NZFA, which is responsible for the overall management of the league. The NZFA is responsible for the appointment of the league’s referees, the registration of players, and the scheduling of fixtures. The NZFA also sets the rules and regulations for the league, and is responsible for the promotion and marketing of the league.
The NLS is divided into two divisions, the North and the South. Each division is made up of 10 teams, with each team playing each other twice during the season. The top two teams from each division qualify for the playoffs, with the winners of the playoffs being crowned the NLS champions.
The NLS has become an increasingly popular league in New-Zealand, with teams from all over the country competing for the championship. The league has also seen a number of talented players move up to the National League, with many of them going on to represent New-Zealand at international level.
