The Toppserien: A Short History
The Toppserien is the highest division of women’s football in Norway. Founded in 1984, the league was initially known as the 1. Divisjon and was the first professional women’s football league in the country. The league was renamed the Toppserien in 1987, and it has been the top tier of women’s football in Norway ever since.
