The Ekstraklasa is Poland’s premier football competition, first established in 1926 when Wisla Krakow were crowned the inaugural champions. The teams are divided into three tables, with the top teams promoted and the bottom teams relegated to the I Liga. Each team plays a total of 37 games in one season, with the team with the most points at the end of the season being crowned the champion. The top team qualifies for the Champions League Qualification main tournament or preliminary qualifications, while an additional three teams qualify for the Europa League Qualification tournament or preliminary qualifications.
The largest stadium in the Ekstraklasa Poland football league is Slask Wroclaw, with a total capacity of 44,416. During the 21/22 season, the highest attendance per game was 33,000, which was recorded during the match between Wisla Krakow and Legia Warsawa. The total attendance for the season was 2,607,154, with an average attendance per game of 8,808.
The Ekstraklasa is the top-tier football league in Poland, and its official organization is also called Ekstraklasa. The league is supported by two of the largest TV partners in the country, Platforma Canal+ and Telewizja Polska. This ensures that the league is broadcasted to a wide audience, and that the games are seen by many people.
