The II Liga - East in Poland was founded in 2000. It is the third tier of the Polish football league system, and is the eastern division of the II Liga. The league is made up of 18 teams, with the top two teams at the end of the season being promoted to the I Liga, and the bottom four teams being relegated to the III Liga.
The first ever game in the II Liga - East was played on March 11, 2000, between Widzew Łódź and Znicz Pruszków, with the former winning 3-2. Since then, the league has seen numerous changes, including the introduction of the relegation and promotion system in 2002, and the rebranding of the league in 2006.
The II Liga - East is governed by the Polish Football Association (PZPN), and is made up of 18 teams, all of which are professional clubs. Each team plays each other twice during the season, once at home and once away. The season runs from March to November, with the top two teams at the end of the season being promoted to the I Liga, and the bottom four teams being relegated to the III Liga.
The II Liga - East is an important part of the Polish football system, providing a platform for clubs to progress up the ladder and compete in the highest levels of the game. It is also a great opportunity for young players to gain experience and develop their skills.
The 2022 II Liga - East Poland season started on July 16th, 2022, and will finish on June 4th, 2023. This season, 18 teams are competing for the championship and 306 out of 171 matches have already been played. At the moment, the top three teams are separated by only four points. Kotwica Kołobrzeg is currently at the top of the standings with 38 points, while Kalisz and Kalisz are second and third with 35 and 34 points respectively. However, there are still 135 matches left to be played, so the standings could look very different by the end of the season.
