The Segunda Liga, the second division of the Portuguese football league, was founded in 1990. It replaced the former Second Division, which had been in existence since 1934. The Segunda Liga is made up of 22 teams, with the top two teams earning promotion to the Primeira Liga, the top division of Portuguese football.
The first season of the Segunda Liga was in 1990-91, and the inaugural champions were Beira-Mar. Since then, the Segunda Liga has gone through several changes, including the introduction of a promotion/relegation system in 1998 and the expansion of the league to 22 teams in 2005.
The Segunda Liga is managed by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), which is responsible for all professional football in Portugal. The FPF is a member of UEFA, the governing body of European football, and is responsible for the organization of the Segunda Liga and the other professional leagues in Portugal.
The Segunda Liga is a highly competitive league, with teams from all over Portugal competing for promotion to the Primeira Liga. The league is also home to some of the most exciting young talent in Portuguese football, with many of the league’s top players going on to have successful careers in the top division.
The 2022 season of the Segunda Liga Portugal kicked off on August 6th, 2022 and will conclude on May 28th, 2023. 18 teams are vying for the championship, with 306 out of 144 matches having already been played. The top three teams in the standings are currently separated by 10 points, with Moreirense leading the pack with 32 points, followed by Farense with 28 points and Farense with 22 points. However, there are still 162 matches left to be played, so the standings could easily change. It will be interesting to see how the standings change over the course of the season, as the top three teams battle for the championship. With 162 matches still to be played, anything could happen. The Liga Portugal 2 is a professional football competition in Portugal that was first established in 1990. The teams are placed in one table, with a promotion and relegation system for the best and worst-performing teams. The best teams are promoted to the Liga Portugal, while the worst teams are relegated to the Liga Portugal 2. For the 22/23 season, UD Oliveirense and Torreense were promoted to the Liga Portugal 2, while B-SAD, Moreirense, and Tondela were relegated. Each team plays a total of 24 games in one season, and the team with the most points at the end of the season is declared the winner.
The Segunda Liga Portugal is home to some of the largest stadiums in the country, with Oliveirense boasting the largest of them all. With a total capacity of 30,130, Oliveirense’s stadium is the envy of many teams in the league. Attendance figures for the Segunda Liga Portugal are also impressive, with many teams regularly drawing in large crowds.
The Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional is the official organization in charge of the football league Segunda Liga Portugal. The league’s largest TV partner is Sport TV, providing viewers with exclusive access to the league’s matches and other content.
