The Super Liga in Serbia is the top tier of the Serbian football league system. It was founded in 2006, and the first games were played in August of that year. The league is governed by the Football Association of Serbia (FSS) and is composed of 16 teams.
The league was formed as part of the restructuring of the Serbian football system, which saw the dissolution of the former Serbian and Montenegrin First League. The FSS established the Super Liga as a professional league, with the first season taking place in 2006-07. The league has since grown in popularity and stature, with the current season being the 14th edition.
The league is divided into two stages, the regular season and the championship round. The regular season consists of 30 rounds, with each team playing each other twice. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the championship round, which is played as a single round-robin tournament. The winner of the championship round is crowned the champion of Serbia.
The league also features a relegation system, with the bottom two teams at the end of the regular season being relegated to the Serbian First League. The teams that finish in the top two positions in the First League are promoted to the Super Liga for the following season.
The Super Liga is one of the most competitive leagues in Europe, and has produced many successful clubs and players over the years. It is also one of the most watched leagues in the region, with many of the matches being broadcast live on television and online.
The 2022 season of the Serbian Super Liga kicked off on July 9th, 2022 and will conclude on April 9th, 2023. Sixteen teams are competing for the championship, and so far 240 out of 152 matches have been played. The top three teams in the standings are FK Crvena Zvezda, FK Partizan, and FK Partizan, who have 53, 43, and 39 points respectively. However, there are still 88 matches left to be played, and the top three teams are only separated by 14 points. The rest of the season is sure to be full of excitement, as teams battle it out for the championship title. The Mozzart Bet Superliga is Serbia’s premier football competition, having first been established in 2006. The teams are divided into three tables, with the best-performing teams being promoted and the worst-performing teams being relegated to the Mozzart Bet Prva Liga. Each team plays a total of 30 games in one season, with the team with the most points at the end of the season being declared the winner. The top three teams qualify for the Europa League Qualification main tournament or preliminary qualifications, while an additional team qualifies for the Champions League Qualification tournament or preliminary qualifications.
The Super Liga Serbia is home to some of the largest stadiums in the country. FK Crvena zvezda has the largest stadium, with a total capacity of 55,538. This is followed by FK Partizan with a capacity of 32,710, and FK Vojvodina with a capacity of 21,500. All three teams have seen impressive attendance figures in recent years, with FK Crvena zvezda leading the way with an average attendance of over 40,000.
