The 3. Liga - Center in Slovakia was founded in 2004 as a regional football league in the country. It is the third tier of the Slovak football league system and is operated by the Slovak Football Association. The league consists of 16 teams playing in a double round-robin format. The season runs from July to May.
The first season of the 3. Liga - Center began in 2004 with eight teams competing. These teams were: FC Petržalka, MFK Topoľčany, FK Púchov, MFK Skalica, FK Senec, MFK Dubnica, FK Dubnica and FK Žiar nad Hronom. The inaugural season was won by FK Púchov, who finished with a record of 15 wins, two draws and one loss.
In the following years, the league has seen an expansion in teams, with the current 16 teams competing in the 2019-20 season. The league also underwent a name change in 2018, when it was renamed from the 3. Liga to the 3. Liga - Center.
The league is governed by the Slovak Football Association, which sets the rules and regulations for the league. The league also has a corporate structure, with a Board of Directors and a General Assembly. The Board of Directors is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the league, while the General Assembly is responsible for the overall strategy and direction of the league.
The 2021 3. liga - Center season ended on 2022-06-19 with Dolný Kubín emerging as the champions. After 30 matches, Dolný Kubín had 22 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses, giving them a total of 70 points. The title race was a tight one, with only 6 points separating the top three teams. ŠK Slovan Galanta finished second with 64 points, while ŠKF Sereď came in third with 64 points. The Superliga is the top football league in Slovakia and is managed by the ÚLK (Únia Ligových Klubov). The two largest TV partners for the league are RTVS and Orange TV. Both of these networks provide extensive coverage of the league, including live broadcasts of matches and highlights.
