Norra Götaland Division 2 is a football league in Sweden founded in 2004. It is the fourth tier in the Swedish football league system and is part of the Swedish Football Association’s (SvFF) Division 2, which is divided into four regional divisions. The Norra Götaland Division 2 is the northernmost of the four divisions and is made up of teams from the counties of Västra Götaland, Örebro and Värmland.
The first season of the Norra Götaland Division 2 was played in 2004 with 16 teams competing in the league. The teams were divided into two groups of eight teams each and the top two teams from each group advanced to the playoffs. The playoffs consisted of two semi-finals, a third-place match and the final. The first season was won by IFK Uddevalla, who defeated IK Gauthiod in the final.
The league has since grown to include 18 teams competing in the 2019 season. Each team plays each other twice during the regular season, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the playoffs. The playoffs consist of two semi-finals, a third-place match and the final. The winner of the Norra Götaland Division 2 is promoted to the Division 1 Norra, the third tier in the Swedish football league system.
The Norra Götaland Division 2 is governed by the Norra Götaland Football Association (NGFF), which is responsible for the administration and promotion of football in the region. The NGFF is also responsible for organizing the Norra Götaland Cup, an annual cup competition for teams in the Norra Götaland Division 2.
The 2022 Division 2 - Norra Götaland season came to a close on 2022-10-16 with Ahlafors emerging victorious after 18 wins from 26 matches. The top three teams were separated by a mere 12 points, making for an incredibly competitive season. Ahlafors’ impressive campaign saw them take the title with ease, as they finished with a total of 58 points. They were followed by Torslanda IK, who managed to secure 46 points, and IFK Uddevalla, who finished with 44 points. The 2022 Division 2 - Norra Götaland season was an incredibly exciting one, with the top three teams separated by such a small margin. Ahlafors’ victory was well-deserved, and their impressive performance throughout the season will no doubt be remembered for years to come.Division 2 - Norra Götaland Sweden is a football competition with 3 tables, each containing teams that compete against each other.
