The Turkish Football League 1. Lig, or TFF 1. Lig, is the second tier of professional football in Turkey. Founded in 2001, the league is currently composed of 18 teams. It was created as a replacement for the Turkish Second Football League, which had been in existence since 1963.
The first season of the TFF 1. Lig began in August 2001, with the 18 founding teams competing for the championship. The inaugural season saw Trabzonspor win the title, with Ankaragücü finishing as runners-up. Since then, the league has seen a number of different teams win the title, including Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, and Bursaspor.
The league is managed by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), which is responsible for the organization and promotion of football in Turkey. The TFF also organizes the Turkish Super Lig, the top tier of professional football in the country. The TFF 1. Lig is divided into two groups, with each team playing each other twice during the season. At the end of the season, the top two teams in each group are promoted to the Super Lig, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the TFF 2. Lig.
The TFF 1. Lig has become an increasingly popular league, with many of the top teams in the country competing for the title each season. The league has also seen a number of talented players emerge, with many of them going on to play for some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
The 2022-2023 season of the Turkish Lig 1 has been an exciting one so far, with 19 teams competing for the championship. After 342 out of 179 matches, the top three teams are separated by only 9 points. Eyüpspor is currently in the lead with 34 points, followed by Rizespor and Rizespor with 25 points each. With 163 matches still to be played, the competition is far from over and the outcome of the season is still up in the air. The season started on 2022-08-14 and will finish on 2023-05-14, so there is still plenty of time for teams to make their move and take the lead. It’s sure to be an exciting end to the season and fans are eagerly awaiting the final results. The TFF 1. Lig is the second tier of professional football in Turkey. The first edition of the league took place in 2001, with Altay being crowned the first champions. The teams are placed in one table, with a promotion and relegation system for the best and worst-performing teams. The top teams are promoted to the Süper Lig, while the bottom three teams are relegated to the TFF 2. Lig. For the 22/23 season, Sakaryaspor, Pendikspor, and Bodrumspor were promoted to the TFF 1. Lig, while Göztepe, Çaykur Rizespor, Altay, and Yeni Malatyaspor were relegated to the TFF 1. Lig. Each team plays a total of 36 games in one season, and the team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion.
The Turkish Football League 1 is home to some of the largest stadiums in the country. Altay has the largest stadium, with a total capacity of 51,295. This is followed by Kayserispor with a capacity of 41,903, and Gaziantepspor with a capacity of 40,000. The average attendance for the league is around 10,000, with some teams such as Galatasaray and Fenerbahce regularly drawing in crowds of over 20,000.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) is the official organization in charge of the 1. Lig, Turkey’s top football league. The largest TV partner for the league is beIN Sport Turkey. This partnership ensures that the league is broadcasted to a wide audience, allowing fans to follow their favorite teams and players.
