Origins and Foundation of the Segunda División
The Segunda División, or Spanish Second Division, is the second tier of the Spanish football league system. It was founded in 1929 and is currently contested by 22 teams. The Segunda División is one of the oldest professional football divisions in Europe and is the oldest professional football division in Spain.
